Staff experience

• Active scientific research experience (>25 years) concerning both academic and industrial sectors,
• Evaluation of scientific proposals for research funding (> 9 years) for both EU national   and international research councils and funding organisations, including at executive and institutional levels,
• Numerous evaluation assignments of different European Community programmes for the European Commission's DG Research in the Fourth and Fifth RTD Framework Programmes (FP4 & FP5);
• International evaluation assignments for INTAS ( International association for the promotion of cooperation with scientists from the independent states of the former Soviet Union ), including evaluation on-site in both Russia and the Ukraine
• High-level ministerial and scientific assessment committees and interim review groups in the research and technological sectors for several different EU Member States,
• International judging panels for scientific awards and medals,
• lecturing on the evaluation of basic research in Paris by invitation of OECD;
• Formerly employed (7 years) by the European Commission in Brussels, working on European research policy and strategy at the Directorate General for Research and involved in advising, drafting, editing and correlation of Commission documents (FP5, FP6 and FP7)
